Semi-Precious Magnets Make A Fabulous No-Pin Alternative To
Traditional Brooches.
PALM BEACH, FL - June 13, 2006 - Drop the pins this summer and
opt for a chic, blooming alternative instead. Renowned Palm Beach
based jewelry designer Detra Kay introduces "Brooches that Bloom"
a vivid collection of magnetic semi-precious stone flower
brooches that securely fasten onto most any fabrication, even
leather, without the damage to fabrics often caused by
traditional pin brooches.
Called "Maggies" and "Margarets", these upscale flower brooches
arrive in beautiful natural gemstones: mother of pearl, abalone,
amethyst, onyx and more. Small and large size brooches range in
size from 30 mm to 90 mm diameter. Both tightly fasten onto
lapels, shoes, belts, bags and more via a high intensity magnet
mounted onto the back of each brooch.
"Maggies and Margarets are one of a kind, hand carved semi-
precious stones adorned with genuine vintage Swarovski crystal
centers which we seek out from around the world," says designer
Detra Kay. "They are extremely versatile, can be worn as earrings
or on a suit lapel at the office and will just as easily add
crisp, defined elegance to a summer tank top." Limited
Maggies and Margarets are also available with pearl centers.
Detra first dreamt up the idea of the magnetic brooch as a
fashionable solution for a friend that needed a no-pin alterative
to hold her delicate embroidered scarves in place. Detra's
magnetic brooches quickly gained in popularity and her "blooming"
magnetic brooch collection is a favorite amongst Palm Beach
society women.
"DK Spring/Summer 2006 is all about celebrating the fabulous
colors found in natural gemstones. Semi-precious stone flowers
are a fantastic way to brighten summer wardrobes. I design for
women who want to get noticed for their impeccable taste and
bold, fun style sense, and these refined brooches most definitely
stand out, in an incredible, fashionista way," says Kay.
Detra Kay Jewelry designs are available at Mildred Hoit in Palm
Beach, limited stores of Saks Fifth Avenue nationwide and online
