SAN FRANCISCO, CA - September 14, 2005 - Don Ehrlich, assistant
principal violist of the San Francisco Symphony, will open the 2005-06
season of public concerts by the San Francisco Student Philharmonic on
Friday, November 4, at 8pm. "Mr. Ehrlich's appearance with us will
produce an exciting and inspiring interaction between our faculty and
our orchestra members. That's the aim of all our concerts," says
Andrei Gorbatenko, the Philharmonic's music director.
Ehrlich will be the soloist for the first half of the concert
leading the Philharmonic for Hindemith's "Trauermusik" and Telemann's
"Viola Concerto in G Major". Also on the program will be Ludwig van
Beethoven's "First Symphony" conducted by Gorbatenko.
The San Francisco Student Philharmonic draws most of its musicians
from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, combining them with an
instrumental faculty of musicians from the San Francisco Symphony and
the San Francisco Opera. Our mission is to foster an educational
atmosphere by giving career bound student musicians the opportunity to
rehearse and perform alongside professional musicians of the highest
caliber. The results are showcased every season in our public
orchestral concerts and in our community presentations, demonstrating
to young people how dedication and a strong work ethic create success.
Tickets are priced at for general admission and for seniors
and students. For more information or to order tickets, call
415-474-1608 or visit http://www.sfstudentphilharmonic.org
